New Price Adjustment! Totally Modernized Victorian Built in 1875

1703 Gough Street

Now at: $3,395,000

New Price Adjustment! Totally modernized Victorian built in 1875 still feels Victorian. Modern touches are harmonious with preservation: featuring 4 bedrooms, 5.5 baths on an extra wide lot with high ceilings, hardwood floors still gleam underfoot, the banister and curved staircase are still their glorious Victorian selves, as are the ornately carved hearths — a modern fleshing out of the still-present Victorian bones.

San Francisco: America’s Best City for Keeping New Year’s Resolutions

New Year’s resolutions are easy to set but not always so easy to keep, but if you live in San Francisco, you stand a better shot than you do anywhere else in the country.

San Franciscans are also adept at keeping their health-related resolutions, ranking third in the country in that respect and among the top five cities with the lowest percentage of obese adults. And while San Francisco places much lower in the overall finance-resolutions category, residents have the third-highest median credit scores in the country. Read more @bethanywpatten

Election results 2018: Voters Reject Rent-Control Expansion

Proposition 10 trounced nearly 2-1 at the ballot box. Read more on the @bethanywpatten

California voters soundly rejected Proposition 10 on Tuesday night, electing to preserve the state’s 1995 Costa-Hawkins Act and its profound restrictions on local rent control laws.

The California secretary of state’s office reported Tuesday night that an estimated 64 percent of California voters voted no on Proposition 10, which if passed would have allowed city governments to potentially expand rent controlled housing stock for the first time in over 20 years.

PLEASE VOTE NO ON PROP 10

"PLEASE VOTE NO ON PROP 10". Proposition 10 is a statewide ballot initiative in the November 2018 election that aims to repeal the Costa-Hawkins Housing Act. Is it a stretch to say Prop. 10’s rent control is bad economics?

(Photo by Dean Musgrove, Los Angeles Daily News/SCNG)

Simply put, the economic concept of “elasticity” is in play with Prop. 10. This theory measures what a consumer may do when faced with changes in the price of a product or service. Or how far you’d rationally stretch your budget to buy something.

Most Americans Like Their Neighbors

THREE-QUARTERS OF HOMEOWNERS SAY THEY HAVE GOOD NEIGHBORS

Here is some promising news for anyone who is planning a move: There’s a better-than-average change that you’ll like your new neighbors.

Realtor.com’s 2018 Good Neighbors Report found that 77 percent of Americans think that they have good neighbors, compared with just 7 percent who believe the opposite. Males are more likely (82 percent) to say they like their neighbors than females (72 percent), and those age 55 and older have slightly better neighborly relations than other generations.

Bay Area Housing Markets Got Spooked in September

Bay Area home sales declined by 20 percent year over year in September, with all counties posting drops, led by Sonoma and Contra Costa. In 2018, the region’s housing market activity is trending 4 percent lower year to date.

The rebalancing between buyers and sellers is driven by affordability constrains and buyer fatigue, with the biggest change seen in relatively affordable and previously fiercely competitive markets.

Perched up on San Francisco's Russian Hill

Check out this $45 million Russian Hill compound that just hit the market

Perched up on San Francisco's Russian Hill, the sweeping views from 950 Lombard St. reach from Alcatraz to Salesforce Tower. But the roughly 9,500-square-foot gated compound at that address is a sight to behold itself. If purchased for its $45 million asking price. It would soar past the city's current closing-price high of $38 million last year for a 12,000-square-foot mansion in Pacific Heights.
